Baby Grand - Billy Joel & Ray Charles Arrangement
This is my Arrangement of the song Baby grand by billy joel and ray charles

Your "baby grand" (from the song by ray charles and billy joel)? In the song "Baby grand" by ray charles and billy joel. it talks about a man who's piano gives him utter joy. What is comparable to that in ur life?

How can I change lyrics to make a song more appropriate for a performance? I'm performing Baby Grand by Billy Joel at my school's talent show next month, but I need to change some lyrics to make it more school-appropriate. The original is as follows:Now I'm home And I'm weary In my bones Every dreary one night stand But baby grand Came home with me Any suggestions to change the one-night-stand line would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Use a writing program like Microsoft office word or any other and fix the lyrics with it, print it out, practice singing it. Your all set! Ever Dreary one man band its really hard to change billy joel. i almost think changing his lyrics is more inappropriate than leaving them. esp cuz a 1night stand isnt that explicit. Now Im homeAnd Im wearyON the PHONEI dont want to talkBut baby loveCalled mei dont know! If you must change the lyrics (which are totally appropriate) change stand to gig (though it will not rhyme if you do).The one night stand line refers to performing on tour, not sex.

Is it acceptable to change lyrics while covering a song? I'm looking to sing Baby Grand by Billy Joel for my school's talent show, but I would have to change several lyrics to make it more appropriate.is it acceptable to tweak the artist's original lyrics or should I pick another song?
it should be finesome band covered a pink floyd song (can't remember what.welcome to the machine?) and changed the lyrics to it.the point of covering music is to make it your own song. Its a talent show for school. show your talent. you can just mention before you sing it that you tweeked it a lil. :) I would say no because if it is a cover you are doing a copy of the original artists song. It would be like you writing a book and someone changed some words and resold the book. It is just changing it up which shouldn't be done in order to keep the song alive. I would recommend changing the song. If the song isn't appropriate and you're not willing to risk singing the uncensored version of the song, then it would save a lot of trouble and moral dilemma by choosing a different song.

billy joel? i love billy joel. anyone else? whats your favorite song of his? i like scenes from an italian restaurant, only the good die young and baby grand! The freaky part of this question is that I'm listening to him right now on my computer. I saw him in Vegas with Elton John and he was 1000 times better. Best song: While the Night is Still YoungNo Mans LandModern WomanPiano Man.the best ever.Nice to see someone on here write about a good singer for a change. We didnt start the fire I like some of his stuff. I most like: We Didn't Start the Fire, Movin' Out, The Downeaster "Alexa", and Piano Man. Goodnight Saigon. It's a very moving tribute song to those that faught and died in Vietnam. I also really like the song Pressure (really cool video for that one). Billy Joel is one of my favorite singers. I saw him w/Elton John a few years back here in Boston. The show was the best ever!My favorite Billy Joel songs are. She's Always A WomanHonestyI Go To ExtremesAllentownPressure We didn't start the fire is my favorite.First I heard was Piano man.Leningrad and The River of Dreams are very good, too. Here are a few hidden gems:Miami 2017 - When the city of New York was essentially bankrupt (early 80s?) and there were all sorts of dire prections as to its future, he fast-forwarded to the year 2017 and wrote this song as if he were retired in Florida remembering the end of New York City. Downeaster Alexa - The tough life of blue collar fisherman on the upper east coast. Similar theme is the song Allentown about the life of Penn factor workers after plant closure.Sleeping With The Television On. Contains one of my all time favorite lines, "I really wish I were less of a thinking man and more a fool who's not afraid of rejection". An of course.Only The Good Die Young, Baby Grand, New York State of Mind and Scenes From An Italian Restaurant. Many people probably have only heard his Top-40 stuff, but his best music was the more obscure stuff that wasn't about the old worn-out song themes (love, teenage aingst, somebody done me wrong, etc). He was able to write interesting songs about everyday life, current events, and what was going on around him. I think at the core of his being he is just an average Joe, as opposed to the more typical self-absorbed, egomaniac rock star.

Allegro in A minor - Bach

Just Finished Praeludium and Allegro what next? Well i'm putting the finishing touches on P&A and my teacher is letting me chose my next piece. I really like the bruch violin Concerto in G minor but I don't know if that would be to much of a jump? (recent piece I've learnt: Bach VC in a minor Accolay VC No.1 Handel Violin sonata No.1 Czardas by Monti Studies: Kreutzer No.9, 25 Fiorello No.1,3,9,14,16If you have any other suggestions that would be fabulous.
Downloadable sheet music: Allegro in A minor - Bach
I have an ASTA repertoire list that sorts pieces into levels. Of course that's a little artificial, and you could work on things from several levels at once, but it's a start. According to this list, P & A is in level 9, the Bruch is in level 10, and the Monti Czardas is back in level 7, and Accolay is 6.Here's the full list of level 8. If there's anything from it you haven't played, I'd do that.Bach: Concerto No. 2 in E (International)Bach: Solo Sonatas & Partitas (International)Beethoven: Romance in F (Fischer)De Beriot: Concerto in G, Op. 76, No. 7 (Fischer)De Beriot: Concerto in Am, Op. 104, No. 9 (Schirmer)De Falla: “Suite Populaire Espagnole,” Jota or two other movements (Chester)Drigo: Valse Bluette (found in “37 Pieces You Like to Play”) (Schirmer)Dvorak: 4 Romantic Pieces, Op. 75 (Simrock) Play at least two.Foss: Composer’s Holiday (Fischer)Gardner: From the Canebrake, Op. 5, No. 1 (Schirmer)Grieg: Sonata in F, Op. 8, No. 1 (Peters)Haydn: Concerto No. 1 in C (Henle)Hubay: Hejre Kati, Op. 32, No. 4 (Fischer)Kreisler: Sicilienne and Rigaudon (Foley)Kreutzer: Concerto No. 13 in D (Fischer)Mozart: Concerto #1 in Bb, K. 207 (Barenreiter)Mozart: Rondo in C, K. 373 (International)Mozart: Sonatas, K. 301 in G, K. 304 in Em, and K. 305 in A (Henle)Ravel: Piece en Forme de Habanera (Leduc)Rode: Violin Concerto No. 6 in Bb (Peters)Rode: Violin Concerto No. 7 in Am, Op. 9 (International)Rode: Violin Concerto No. 8 in Em (Peters)Sarasate: Playera, Op. 23, No. 1 (International)Schubert: Sonatinas in Am and Gm, Op. 137 (Fischer)Smetana: Aus der Heimat (Peters)Spohr: Concerto No. 2 in Dm, Op. 2 (Peters)Tartini: Concerto in Dm (International)Tschaikovsky: Canzonetta from Violin Concerto (from “37 Pieces You Like to Play”) (Schirmer)Tschaikovsky: Melodie (in “3 Pieces, Op. 42”) (International)Veracini: Sonata in A, Op. 2, No. 6 (International)Veracini: Sonata in Em (in “Suzuki Violin School Vol. 8”) (Summy Birchard)Vivaldi: Summer, from “Four Seasons” (Ricordi) first or third movementWieniawski: Legende, Op. 17 (Masters Music)Wieniawski: Romance from Violin Concerto in Dm, Op. 22 (International)Wieniawski: Two Mazurkas, Op. 19 (Obertass Dudiarz) Choose one (Masters Music)And here's level 9:Bach: Solo Sonatas and Partitas (International)Bartok: Roumanian Folk Dances (Boosey and Hawkes) Play four.Beethoven: Romance in G (Fischer)Beethoven: Sonata Op. 12, No. 1 in D (Henle)Beethoven: Sonata Op. 34, No. 5 “Spring” (Henle)Bloch: Nigun, from “Baal Shem Suite” (Fischer)Copland: Waltz and Celebration from “Billy the Kid” (Boosey & Hawkes)De Beriot: Scene de Ballet (Fischer)De Falla/Kochanski: The Pantomime from El Amor Brujo (Chester)Drdla: Fantasia on “Carmen” Op. 66 (Universal)Dvorak/Kreisler: Slavonic Dance No. 1 in Gm (Foley)Glazunov: Meditation (Nick Stanton Press)Grieg: Sonata in G, Op. 13, No. 2 (Peters)Joplin/Perlman: Elite Syncopations (from “Ragtime for Violin”) (Schirmer)Joplin/Perlman: The Entertainer (ibid.)Kabalevsky: Concerto in C, Op. 48 (MCA)Kreisler: Liebesfreud (Foley)Kreisler: Praeludium & Allegro (Foley)Kreisler: Schön Rosmarin (Foley)Mozart: Concerto No. 3 in G, K. 216 (Schirmer)Mozart: Adagio in E, K. 261 (International)Mozart/Kreisler: Rondo in G (Foley)Ries: Perpetuum Mobile, Op. 34, No. 5 (Fischer)Sarasate: Malaguena, Op. 21, No. 1 (Fischer)Spohr: Concerto No. 9 in Dm, Op. 55 (Peters)Stravinsky: Dance Russe from “Petrouchka” (Boosey & Hawkes)Viotti: Concerto No. 22 (International)Vitali: Chaconne (Fischer)Vivaldi: Autumn and Winter from “Four Seasons” (Ricordi)I should mention that when it lists the Bach Sonatas and Partitas, they're not all of the same difficulty. I'd start with the Allemanda and Giga from the D minor Partita, and then the E major. Some of the pieces on that list are pretty big deals. The Vitali Chaconne in particular would prepare you well for the Bruch, giving you some practice on octaves and even tenths. hmm. that is kind of a big jump.. you should try playing Sarasate's Introduction and Tarantellaor Saint saen's Violin Concerto 3. both of them have the techniques learned from P&A Andrew has a good list.maybe listen to some of those and see if you like any of them. Bruch might be a stretch, but if you are looking for a challenge, may as well add Mendelssohn to the list. Immediately after I studied P&A, I worked on the Dvorak Romance in F minor, the Kabalevsky violin concerto, Vivaldi's Winter, and some of the unaccompanied Bach movements. All were easier (in my opinion) than P&A, though. One way to choose is to decide what techniques you want to work on, and try to pick a piece that will force you to do it.
Antonin Dvorak, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Sarasate? What is your favorite compostion by these subsequent composersmine. A dvorak: Slavonic dance no. 2 in E minor opous. 72 or Humoresque No.7Bach. between harpsacord concerto in D minor, Contrapuctous 14 in the art of fugue, or his partitenstchaikovshy. violin concerto Allegro moderatosarasate. ziguenerwisenand the other question is do you prefer romantic over Baroque or Baroque over romantic. or 20th classical?
Dvorak- Slavonic Dances, Op 46, No.2Bach- 'V. Bourrée', Harpsichord music by the Young J.S. BachTchaicovsky- Nutcracker Suite (Russian Dance)Am not familiar with Sarasate's music. I prefer baroque music by far! Love the composers Bach, Handel, and Rameau the most! xxxx Dvorak: Quintet in Eb (I'm playing it right now. it's amazing!)Bach: the cello suites. I'm partially to No. 2. I think I'm going to choose that to brush up on for auditions.Tchaikovsky: Definitely the Violin concerto in DSarasate- Zigeunerweisen as well.I prefer Romantic music most of the time. However, it depends on my mood. I'm really branching out into 20th and Modern and even delving backwards into Baroque and Renaissance.~Lisa Dvorak: "New World Symphony." I was deeply moved by this piece in my teens.Tchaikovsky: "Swan Lake." I remember watching this ballet from the cheap seats when I was about 15. Couldn't see the stage, but it mattered not, for reasons obvious.Bach: "The Brandenburg Concertos" - all six. I cannot separate them; they are siblings and must always remain together.Sarasate: I'm not familiar with him or his music. Sorry.Yes, I admit, I'm a lover of romance.oops, I mean romantic music.

Noel Gay: All Over The Place

Sailors Three (1940) Tommy Trinder
Directed by Walter Forde for Ealing Studios, "Sailors Three" starred popular comedian Tommy Trinder (You lucky people) together with Claude Hulbert and Michael Wilding, in one of the first comedy films to be given a wartime setting. Music and lyrics were by Noel Gay and Frank Eyton, and included the jaunty number "All over the place". The film is available on dvd in the UK from Optimum releasing, either as a separate dvd or part of the Tommy Trinder box set.

Theme from The King's Speech by Alexandre Desplat
The King's Speech is a 2010 British historical drama film directed by Tom Hooper and written by David Seidler. Colin Firth plays King George VI who, to overcome his stammer, sees Lionel Logue, an Australian speech therapist played by Geoffrey Rush. The two men become friends as they work together, and after his brother Edward VIII abdicates, the new king relies on Logue to help him make a radio broadcast on the day that Britain goes to war with Germany at the beginning of World War II. Seidler, who began researching George VI's life after overcoming his own stammer during his youth, wrote about the men's relationship. Nine weeks before filming, Logue's notebooks were discovered and quotations from them were incorporated into the script. Principal photography took place in London and other locations in Britain, in December 2009 and early January 2010. The film was released in the United Kingdom on 7 January 2011. The King's Speech was a major box office and critical success. On a budget of £8 million (roughly $15 million), it grossed over $400 million internationally. It was widely praised by critics for its visual style, art direction, and acting. Other commentators discussed the film's misrepresentation of the historical events it portrays, in particular the reversal of Winston Churchill's opposition to abdication. The film received many awards and nominations, mostly for Colin Firth. The film was nominated for seven Golden Globes, winning Best Actor - Drama for Firth.

YuGiOh! Rate/fix my deck? Okay. This deck will not be used as a deck for a tournament. It is a deck for me to simply duel my friends and locals. This deck has been through many revises. Each time, I tried to add a new strategy. It got to the point where there were too many strategies. Too many cards supporting others and some cards ending up as a dead draw. So, I thinned out the deck. Took the back bones of it and built back around it.Monsters (15):Uria, Lord of Searing FlamesIron Chain Repairman(3) Iron Chain Blaster(3) Iron Chain Coil(3) Iron Chain SnakeLava GolemSummoner MonkCannon Soldier MK-2Mask of DarknessSynchros (8):Iron Chain DragonStardust DragonAncient Fairy DragonBlack-Winged DragonBlack Rose DragonRed Dragon ArchfiendThought Ruler ArchfiendX-Saber WayneSpells (9):Restructer RevolutionDark Snake SyndromeMeteor of DestructionHinotamaGaia Power(2) Poison ChainReinforcement of the ArmyTemple of the KingsTraps (16):Magic CylinderNightmare WheelMagical ThornGravity BindSkull InvitationCoffin SellerChain Burst(2) Scrubbed Raid(2) Dark Bribe(2) Meteor Flare(3) Tower of BabelWhen I get a secondary Iron Chain Repairman, maybe I could replace Cannon Soldier MK-2 with it?Please rate my deck from 0-100. Keep in mind, this deck was built to just duel friends and locals. As you can see, this deck was not built to, nor does it abide by the rules. Tell me if you think this deck could use some fixing; adding/removing cards. And any other opinions you may have, please let me know.@Arron - Thanks a lot for your opinion. I'll keep the Traps Tactic idea in mind.@The Brothers - It's not so much that I truly need a combo of Synchros on the field, I just like having options. I'm not sure if this was what your answer was getting to. If not, I apologize.@Brice - Thanks for the tip. It was just a random Direct Damage card that got my attention when I was putting cards in. Any suggestions for the card to replace it?@Sadman - Your answer is not only completely unnecessary, but too far away from what I was asking. I've seen the answers you given to other people's questions; all answers of which were rude and seemed to contain essence that you have no idea what you're talking about. I've seen you're page, and the fact that you've added some Yahoo! Answers' top contributors, specifically those who are well with questions regarding YuGiOh!, to your contacts just makes you look like that much more of a doochebag; it does not make you look like you know what you're talkin@Sadman - talking about. To answer the question you posted, asking for people to give their cards to you, are you nuts or do you play with LSD like it's water? I never want to hear deck advice from you again. I will never e-mail you. And no. You cannot have my cards you ill minded, little cheapskate. I don't think you're a champion from New York; the fact that it doesn't appear that you can spell just supplies evidence. If you have any experience with YuGiOh! in the past and you're only this far with thinking about how to tactically play your cards, I suggest you find another game to abuse before someone finds a crowbar and decides to go Gordan Freeman on you. .Have a nice day.
87/100 Pretty Accurate Deck For Challenging the locals. Just don't use it in tournaments. Also Try Building up a Good Trap Tactics.

Not bad but you should take out Restructer Revolution. That card isn't worth using unless all of your cards do direct damage.

0, get the majestic red sragon, majestic star dragon.savior star dragon, actient fairy dragon star dust dragon and red nova dragon tins, tell me and ill tell u how to form ur deck.email me, darklink410@rocketmail.com, if u take my advice, can i have those cards u put up??

Should I be responsible for the carpet my roommate ruined? I rented an apartment w/ a guy and we had discussed rules. He agreed to abide by them. No under age drinking, no drugs etc. Well it wasn't 2 weeks and all that was happening. It was like the drunk living with the monk. After countless nights of no sleep cause of loud noise etc. and some drunk friend of his wanting to kick my ass. I left moved out the next day. I lived there for 21/2 months. Had a 7 month lease. Told the Apt Mgmt. and I was doomed to pay my part of the rent. But then my roommate found another guy to pay my part of the rent. At the end of the lease they moved out but destroyed the carpet. Now the Apt. Mgmt. want me to pay for 1/2 the carpet. I nor the Apt. Mgmt. can not find my old roommate. Doesn't return our calls. Do I have any legal recourse for not being liable for the carpet. My name was still on the lease but they know I wasn't living there. This is in Texas. Appreciate any input. The apt. people would not allow me to take my name of the lease.
If you are the tenant of record, you are responsible for the damage, I'm sorry to say.I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure.

in theory.no, but legally, you are.sorry. Since your name was still on the lease agreement, you are legally bound by it.take it as a lesson learned the hard way about picking rommates.good luck!

Yes you are unfortunately responsible to pay it because you stayed on the lease. We had the same problem years ago (we're in TX too) and long after moving out of there got a bill to replace carpet and other damages. Same thing they knew we weren't living there but my ex never got his name off the lease so he had to pay it.

IF you left your name on the lease AFTER the new person moved in, you are legally liable. (Should have gotten the lease changed.)HOWEVER, you can ALSO sue both this person and your prior roommate to recover the cost of repair.Sounds like you didn't even know your roommate before. Bad deal all around!!
